3D casual puzzle game built around disease awareness · DE-BUG Team
The COVID-19 pandemic showed just how fast a disease can move through a crowd with a cough, a touch, or simply being in the wrong place. Man is Sick flips that perspective: instead of protecting yourself, you play as the infected person. Sneak into public spaces, spread the virus through contact and coughing, then escape before anyone notices.
The game was designed as an awareness exercise. By putting the player in the role of the contagion, it demonstrates firsthand how many everyday situations create easy opportunities for disease to spread. By extension, it shows what habits actually break the chain.
Solve the puzzle and leave the place.
Each stage gives the player a time limit and a set of objectives: enter the restricted area, infect NPCs and objects through coughs or direct contact, then find and unlock the exit. Players can infect as many or as few targets as they choose, but must escape before time runs out or before being caught.
Every suspicious action reduces the Suspect Meter. Coughing, entering restricted zones, or touching objects in sight of NPCs all drain it. When the meter drops below 30%, a security guard begins to chase. If it reaches zero, the player fails immediately without needing to be physically caught.
Standard target scattered throughout each stage. Infect them through coughing or direct contact to score points.
Pursues the player when the Suspect Meter drops below 30%. Getting caught by a guard ends the run immediately.
Highest awareness NPC. A cough within their radius triggers an immediate suspicion spike. Stages with more doctors are inherently harder to navigate. In the Hospital stage they outnumber every other NPC type.
